VFAT provides an assessment of a student's visual functioning in the educational setting. It primarily uses materials commonly found in the classroom. VFAT can be used with low-vision individuals of all ages and all functioning levels, including the severely handicapped.

The VFAT assesses:

  • Appearance of Eyes
  • Basic Responses
  • Fixation Tracking
  • Saccadic Movement
  • Scanning
  • Visual Acuity
  • Visual Field
  • Depth Perception
  • Eye-Hand and Eye-Foot Coordination
  • Visual Discrimination
  • Visual Perception
  • Concept of Self and Others in Space
  • Pictures
  • Visual Environment and Mobility

The VFAT provides information on the student's relative strengths and weaknesses, a baseline for the IEP.

The VFAT Kit contains both the Testing Manual/Instrument and the Reproducible Recording Booklet.
